So I just finished watching Clash of the Titans. I heard it had a bunch of awful ratings, but I figured whatever, I'll watch it and maybe get some cool monster reference. Turns out I fucking loved it. Awesome monsters, fight scenes, dudes in armor saving sexy ladies. I've always loved that kind of stuff and I had a great time watching this. Even if it's the same story told ten thousand times, I wasn't bored.
Of course, I think it's important to understand what makes good writing, storytelling, acting, etc., but I also think it's important to be able to let that critical side of yourself go. If you go into every movie scrutinizing it and looking for something new, a lot of movies are going to look like shit, and that's not really enjoyable. If it's something that you like, in this instance monsters and a classic good vs evil tale, don't let opinions of others keep you from enjoying it.
I don't usuallly write journals, but I didn't want to let this thought go! Feel free to share your opinions!
