As it turns out, after an art test and an interview, I was not offered the position at Kabam. I sent an inquiry to find out why I might not have been a good fit, and I was told that they were looking for more senior level employees. Guess I just need more documented experience. Anyway, it's not that big of a deal, it was only one of multiple options that I'm considering for my immediate future.
On another note, I received an email later the same day from Jeremy Jarvis, the art director for Magic: The Gathering, and was asked if I'd be interested in working on Magic cards! Of course I'm interested lol. I'm in the process of filling out all the paperwork/NDA stuff, but it looks like I'm legit going to be a Magic card artist. So pumped haha. I had sent in my latest stuff about a week ago, which included the two LOTR illustrations for fantasy flight games and the female necromancer/hulking knight character designs from the EA games test. I'm assuming it was the LOTR illustrations that finally got me in, which I really wasn't expecting. If you're trying to work for wizards, just make sure you keep sending in submissions, because you never know which pieces will spark their interest. I wasn't going to send in another submission for a long while, but I had spoken to
Miles-Johnston, since he recently received work for D&D, who mentioned the bit about being consistent with submssions, and I was convinced to send in one more last week.
This has been a pretty big goal of mine for the last two years, and I appreciate all the support you guys have given me across multiple art communities (I know I know a lot of you from other places).
